Division 1 & 3 Information

Division 3 is a DEVELOPMENTAL level of soccer. Designed to introduce the more competitive player and coach to Division 1 (upper level). Division 3 is an intermediate step for players, as competing against other Division 3 teams in HYSL, MRYSL, as well as outside Humboldt County. Both D1 and D3 teams have similar league seasons and travel schedules.

Tryout is mandatory each year, even if the player has played on a D1 or D3 team previously. At tryout, parents will complete a registration form and must have a 1"x1" picture of their child, copy of birth certificate w/State seal. Players must have shin guards, soccer cleats, water bottle.

Division 1 & 3 teams play both Saturday and Sunday games during the season.

Travel is customary (although U10's DO NOT travel outside the county unless it is for a Jamboree), and therefore travel will be an added expense. The scheduling is done in Santa Rosa, and HYSL makes every attempt to make sure the schedule reflects an equal number of home and away games. There are also several tournaments available which is an additional travel commitment.

Fundraising is a normal part of the Division 1 & 3 experience. HYSL appreciates the family and business sponsors that support our competitive teams. Traditionally these additional funds pay for tournament fees.

For the love of the game of soccer HYSL does not charge parents a monthly fee to pay coaches for their kids playing D1 or D3 soccer. All board members and coaches give of their time and expertise freely for the good of the game.

Practices for D1 and D3 level start June 1st of each year.
